This Month's Author

    Beverley Nichols

Welcome to Old Scrolls Book Shop

Spring has arrived, and so has the gardening season!   We hope you enjoy our latest AUTHOR OF THE MONTH article featuring British author Beverley Nichols (a man who knew something about both humor and humus).  If anyone can inspire you to get out of the house and into the landscape, he can.  Link to information about Nichols and his books in our "Author of the Month" box at the lower left column of this page.

Our featured books this month are all gardening-related,
and offered at prices that allow you to spring for some plants, seeds and bulbs after you find your inspiration in the printed word.

There is something in everyone's price range: most are first editions, some are quality reprints. All are good reading! Best of all, we are offering them for a limited time at a reduced price to Old Scrolls customers exclusively on our site.

These books are temporarily marked at below market value for comparable quality books. Find them under "New Exclusive Listings" on the right side of home page with accompanying photographs and descriptions. We can extend this offer via phone, mail or on-line purchase here at our on-line store.

Welcome to Old Scrolls Books

There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll:
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!
- Emily Dickinson

(From the book, The Magic Carpet: Poems for Travellers
selected & compiled by Mrs. Waldo Richards)
