First Edition ("First Published in 1929" - Printed in Great Britain on copyright page) in original unclipped jacket. Clean brown cloth boards with gold lettering on spine. No bumping or fraying. Binding is tight, no cracking; slight lean. Pages are clean with clean endpapers; no names, writing or marks. 254 pages. Clean dust jacket is not price clipped (7s.6d. net on front free endpaper), shallow chipping at base of spine (1/8"), closed tear to paper at front spine fold (about half-way). Jacket design by Mr. Paul Rotha. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. H. G. Wells's conception of a great film (which was never made), as much a novel as it is a film scenario. Poses the issue "Is one man justified in shedding the blood of another, in order to avert the greater catastrophe of war?" 021676
