First Edition in clean original jacket. Marbled green boards with yellow cloth spine, black lettering on spine. Hint of fading to board edges; very light dust soiling to spine. Binding is tight & square, no bumping or wear. Pages and edges are clean, with clean endpapers; no names, writing or marks. 218 pp. Clean dustjacket is price clipped, unchipped, tiny closed tear at upper rear spine edge. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A novel set in Africa, where a certain valley is soon to be flooded by the opening of a new dam--and where a District Officer is having his problems persuading the natives to leave their home for a tract of land set aside by the French government. Then Joe Moses arrives on the scene. A unique adventure ensues, as Mister Moses leads the natives on a forty-day trek through the jungle never for a moment without danger, excitement or hilarity. Made into a movie (1965) starring Robert Mitchum.
