Very clean blue cloth boards with clean unchipped paste-on illustration on cover, clean unchipped paste-on title label on spine. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with clean endpapers; no names, writing or marks. Illustrated by Morgan Dennis. 65 pages + 8 glossy black & white photo illustrated pages at rear of book showing seeing-eye dog at work. Dustjacket has a few short closed edge tears, very small chips at top and bottom spine edges. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. 021630

"First Edition" stated on copyright page, in clean original unclipped jacket. Clean blue cloth boards with silver line decoration on cover, silver lettering on spine. No bumping or fraying. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean. Clean endpapers (a brown shadow from offset of rear dj flap on rear endpaper); no names, writing or bookplates. Color frontispiece by Lynd Ward. 215 pages. Clean jacket is not price clipped (2.00 on front inside flap), has very small chips at top spine corners, a little wear to dustjacket paper at two corner tips. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A story about two great dogs and a boy who loved and worked with them both. Valor, a magnificent shepherd K-9 dog that was his comrade-in-arms, had saved Lt. Thomas Tolbert's life with her own in the Pacific. And it was Valor's puppy, Joey, that comforted Tom during the long days in the hospital afterward. Back home in the States, Tom learned that he was blinded for life. His adjustment was a bitter one until he found Joey again in the training quarters for Seeing Eye dogs. 021616
