Later printing in illustrated unclipped jacket. Blue cloth boards with black lettering, horse head illustration on cover, black lettering on spine. No bumping or fraying. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with clean endpapers; no names, writing or marks. Illustrated by John Austin Taylor. Copyright 1939, no statement of edition. 308 pp. Dustjacket designed by Wesley Dennis is not price clipped (2.50 on front inside flap); front panel and spine are clean and bright, rear panel has slight foxing and kite shape piece missing at center (approx. 1" x 2"), tiny chips at top and bottom spine edges. Eleven titles "Stories for Girls" listed on rear panel. Still attractive in new archival quality removable mylar cover. Scarce book, particularly scarce in jacket. A story of girls and horses, their good times and adventures, set in a small Michigan town and surrounding farm country. Silver Birch is a wild white mare who has roamed the countryside unmastered until Connie takes her in hand. 020860
