Unusual binding -- three blue silk cloth covered boards stamped with gold decoration with two small bone closures fold open to reveal lovely decorated endpapers and fourteen individually bound booklets (paper bound, matching the endpapers). Booklets contain text and large beautiful black and white photographs, each on a different subject pertaining tothe culture of Japan. Included are: Hot Springs, Pearls, Architecture, Geisha, Hatsushima, Rice, Crafts, Tokyo, Silk, Lacquer, Children, Pottery, Religion, and Tokaido. All booklets clean, tight and in excellent condition; no chipping or tears, no writing or marks; hint of age-toning at cover edges.
