In 1952 Bishop Pardue was preaching at St. Paul's cathedral in London and while there he met Major General John P. McConnell, commanding general of the U.S. Air Force in Britain. He invited the bishop to go on a tour of the American air bases throughout England to talk to the men. This he did and was so greatly impressed with the spirit he found and with what he saw that on returning to America he went to the Pentagon and there had lunch with General Twining and General Cabell and gave them a report of his experience. He offered his services for any further preaching tours. He was invited to go to Korea for a mission at frontline combat air bases. The actual trip was made in January and February of 1953. This book is the result of a series of bulletins which Bishop Pardue sent home.
