Third Printing, SIGNED by author, in clean original jacket. Clean yellow-beige cloth boards with brown lettering on cover and spine. No bumping or wear. Binding is tight & square, no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with neatly penned previous owner inscription on front free endpaper. Signed by author on front free endpaper: "Cordially Yours, Isabel Wilder / New Haven - March 29, 1933." 308 pages. Clean illustrated dustjacket is unchipped, has one tiny closed edge tear. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A really nice signed copy of this author's first novel, and author was Thornton Wilder's sister. The story of Laura Derwent, left a widow with four children, the oldest fifteen, the youngest eight, facing the problem of how to feed their bodies and form their spirits that they may eventually attain that fullness of life which every mother hopes for her children. A second man eventually comes into her life, and she is faced with still another problem--her own personal happiness or that of her children.
