While on its lonely patrol over the Black Sea, the international situation intensifies and an order comes to fuse the bomb. Soon the threat dissolves, and the order is rescinded, but the bomb will not defuse. The plane cannot land and repeated attempts to jettison the bomb over wasteland areas are thwarted. An absorbing story of flying, maried lives of the crew members, a love affair, and the activities of diplomatic and military circles against an ever-tightening suspenseful situation.
