Each of six famous mystery writers in turn writes a long short story displaying what he/she believes to be the perfect method of murder. In each instance not only the mechanics of the crime are given but the motivation and the personal relationships of the people involved are clearly brought out. Then Ex-Superintendent Cornish, C.I.D. is called upon to solve each crime and explain how he believes the police would have gone about solving this so-called perfect murders. As a result the book is not only fascinating reading but a clever battle of wits between six experts in fictional murder and one man who has spent his life in the actual pursuit and apprehension of criminals.
