Later printing, inscribed and SIGNED by the author. Suede leather hardcover boards with stamped gold lettering on cover. No fraying or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, all decorated, with clean marbled brown endpapers. Inscribed and signed by author on half-title page: "To John T. Mundy, Sincere good wishes - "Buck Private" McCollum - 7/9/32 Oneida, N.Y." Clean fold-out frontispiece with U.S. Official Photograph of the "Lost Battalion," taken in France shortly after the men were relieved, and near the famous "pocket" the men were trapped in. Also a U.S. Official Photo of Liet. Col. Charles W. Whittlesey on section of frontispiece. Page decorations and sketches by Franklin Sly and Tolman R. Reamer, Illustrators. 140 pages. 026106
