A gorgeous book - decorated American trade binding. Very clean green ribbed cloth boards with crisp stamped gold lettering, red flamingo on cover, along with small blind-stamped illustrations of a campsite and a sailing ship. No fading or fraying. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages and edges are clean, with some browning to endpapers and a few preliminary pages. A nice piece of the front panel of the dust jacket is laid in, along with a list of "Bird Books by Mr. Chapman" produced by the publisher. Illustrated with black and white photographs (250 photographs from nature by the author), drawings throughout the book; color frontispiece of flamingos feeding their young. 432 pages with index. Collectible quality.
