
Very nice illustrated hardcover edition in very scarce dust jacket. Clean blue cloth boards with full color paste-on illustration of a woman in a red riding coat with Black Beauty (illustration is clean, unfaded, unchipped); this framed by black decoration and black lettering on cover. Black lettering and small decorations on spine. Tiny spots of wear to two corner tips. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages are clean, with previous owner bookplate on front free endpaper. Color frontispiece illustration (10 clean full color plates in all), plus additional drawings. 357 pages. Dust jacket is of clean brown paper with full color paste-on illustration on cover withblack decoration and lettering to match book cover, black lettering and decoration on spine; very small corner chips, one long closed tear on rear panel was repaired at some time with clear tape (not yellowed, not obnoxious). Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A very nice example of an early edition of this book which has become a great classic.
