Very nice decorated binding (signed binding - monogram "h" on cover design - William Snelling Hadaway). Small book - size approx. 5-1/4" x 6-1/2"). Light green cloth boards with gold, white and green decoration, green line border on cover, green lettering on spine. Very light soiling to rear board. No fraying or wear-through. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Small label fragment on front fixed endpaper, else all pages are clean, with gilt top edges. Translated by Justin Huntly McCarthy. Stated second edition, printed same year as first, 1898. 94 pages. William Snelling Hadaway, who I believe did the cover design as it displays his monogram "h", was an American artist/designer who studied art in Boston, moved to England in 1897. Hence, the American designer's monogram on a book published in London.
