First printing, April 1938. Black cloth boards with green lettering on cover and spine. Light soiling to cloth. Tiny spots of wear at board corner tips, two small closed tears to cloth at top spine edge. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound. Pages and edges are clean with clean endpapers - previous owner name neatly printed at top edge of front pastedown. Profusely illustrated with photographs and drawings throughout; all pages are clean and bright. Author was accused of communism in TIME magazine in 1944 after teaching Russian at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY in 1943. Former Russian Cavalry officer, co-founder at the Boots & Saddles. Wonderful step-by-step illustrations to dynamic horsemanship and communication between horse and rider.
