Beautiful first edition in original unclipped dust jacket. First printing with (1) on last page. Very clean purple ribbed cloth boards with gold skull on cover and spine, gold lettering on spine (gold is bright and unchipped). No fading or wear. Binding is tight and square, hinges are sound - no cracking. Pages are clean, with clean blank light green endpapers; lots of dust-speckling to top text block edges. No names, writing or bookplates. 280 pages. Really nice illustrated dust jacket (by Ferdinand Warren) is bright, not price clipped (2.00 on front inside flap), no chips, slight edge wear. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. A new detective firm (Cardby & Son Detective Agency) is introduced in this mystery thriller. Cardby Senior has retired from Scotland Yard and with his son has opened a private detective agency. Their first client is a peer whose daughter, a drug addict, has disappeared. He offers them a thousand pounds if they bring her back within seven days, together with the man who supplied the drugs.
